Here is the famous Vietnamese dipping fish sauce. This fish sauce is so versatile, Vietnamese people use it to dip the imperial rolls, grilled meat, spring rolls, dumplings, steamed pancakes, etc. It replaces salt.
This is my grandmother’s recipe, far less sweet than what you can taste in usual Asian restaurants.
You will need:
- Some concentrated fish sauce (I use the Squid brand)
- 1 lemon
- 1 sugar lump
- 1 red chili pepper
Melt the sugar lump with 4 tbsps of concentrated fish sauce.
Add 1 cup of water and the juice of 1 lemon.
Add the chili cut into pieces.
